First Lady Rachel Ruto has flagged off a consignment of critical medical resources to reach 7 countries at state House on Monday afternoon.
The resources include three fully equipped mobile immunisation clinics, medical refrigerators, cold rooms, and transport freezers set for 7 counties including Baringo, Marsabit and Samburu.
The resources will ensure that vaccines and medicines remain effective, especially in the challenging climates in these regions which have been faced by long dry spells and high temperatures.
The first Lady said that the resources are aimed at bringing healthcare closer to the people and will bridge a healthcare gap within the 7 counties.
"The inaccessibility of health services is one of the biggest obstacles to building a healthy nation." The first Lady said in a statement on Facebook.
The medical resources were contributed through a partnership between the Kenyan government, German Development Bank and Aga Khan University Hospital
First Lady said the move is in line with the government’s commitment to universal health coverage, a key pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
