Murang’a south Deputy county commissioner Gitonga Murungi has called on elected leaders in the county to work harmoniously by steering clear of war of words with each other so as to serve the electorate of Murang’a better.
Addressing a gathering in Kenol town that was attended by a section of MCAs including the Kimorori wempa ward MCA Elizabeth Wambui (warispa), her Gaturi counterpart Gathee wa Njeri, nominated MCA Diana Muthoni among others, the sub county boss decried the levels of disrespect being displayed by the elected leaders.
“You have all been elected by mwananchi who expects you to deliver your mandate seamlessly and so as you work, you must know that you have a responsibility to work and relate harmoniously and with respect towards each other” he quipped.
“Granted, differences may arise from time to time and when that happens it is important to sit down, consult and try to resolve those differences amicably, uphold a harmonious relationship and respect even in cases where you have divergent views “he added
The DCC further advised the leaders to uphold integrity by pursuing peace as they work and to desist from engaging in wars of words with each other so as to effectively deliver their election mandate to the people of Murang’a.
Recently, wrangles have been eminent between a section of the ward representatives and some members of parliament in the region over water management in the agriculture rich county.
At the center of the wrangles are the five private water companies that run the water and sewerage services in Murang’a.
Moreover, the management of the Sh900 million Maragua dam has also seen some members of the county assembly from the area publicly support either of the warring parties that is, Murang’a Water and Sanitation company (MUWASCO) or Murang’a south water and sanitation company (MUSWASCO)
