DCI confiscate Ksh 9 million, suspect arrested in connection to Quickmart Heist

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have recovered a total Ksh. 9,101,300 suspected to be stolen from Quick mart supermarket by Wells Fargo security. 

In a intelligence operation conducted on Sunday morning, The detectives arrested one of the suspects in connection to the robbery. 

Quick Mart supermarket had reported the robbery of Ksh 94,918,750/= on Nov 6, 2023 which was tendered to wells Fargo for a transit to Family bank. 

So far four suspects have been arrested in connection to the robbery. 

Ismael Patrick Gitonga, the owner and driver of motor vehicle registration number KBM 751W Fielder suspected to have been used to ferry the stolen cash from the escort van, was arrested within Rongai area and the motor vehicle traced to Njiru within Kayole. 

Three others, Michael Matolo Njeru and Samwel Onyango were arrested in Njiru while in the process of modifying the vehicle to possibly conceal it's identity. 

While the latest suspect Martin Nderi Nganga was arrested in Kasarani and Kshs 9,101,300/= recovered at his rented house. Also recovered was a cashbox at a forest next to Gataka Market in Karen Estate. 

The DCI is conducting extended efforts to recover the remaining part of the money.
