All set for National tree Planting day

The Government through the Ministry of Interior has announced that Preparations are complete for the National tree growing Day set for Monday, 13.
President William Ruto who jetted back to the country from Saudi Arabia last night, is expected to lead the national for the tree planting exercise which had been declared as a Public Holiday by the Ministry of Interior on Monday 6, this week.
The Government had already mobilized tree seedlings across the 47 Counties with the process of distributing them to various designated locations for planting underway.
The Planting exercise will be coordinated by National Government Administrative Officers and other patners.
Cabinet Secretaries, County commissioners and County Governors are expected to oversee the exercise in respective regions.
The Government has also assigned chiefs from all the 47 Counties to coordinate the exercise in grassroot levels.
The chiefs are expected to coordinate the distribution of tree seedlings in their respective locations as well as mobilize residents to participate in the exercise.
The Ministry of Interior says maximizing the exercise to the grassroot levels will help achieve the Government's agenda of Planting 15 Billion trees by 2032.
"We will be able to maximize this day to grow as many trees as possible as we work towards attaining our ambitious goal of planting 15 Billion trees by 2032.
The Government says that the Ministry of Environment, Climate change and Forestry is targeting to plant 150 million trees by the end of Monday's exercise.
Members of the public have been urged to actively participate in the exercise by not only planting a tree but also taking care of them to maturity.
The tree seedlings will be available to the public for free at Chief's offices across different locations in the country.
