Siaya, April 18, 2023 KNA,

Business in Siaya town came to a virtual halt on Monday after residents took to the streets to demand the arrest of the local Deputy Governor William Oduol for allegedly threatening the life of Alego / Usonga legislator, Samuel Atandi.
Waving placards and carrying twigs, the demonstrators who were chanting slogans against the Deputy Governor, William Oduol said that the matter cannot be taken lightly and challenged the investigative agencies to bring him to book.
The demonstrators who were led by Mathews Otieno and Peter Omala later dropped petitions at the Siaya County Assembly, Siaya police station and the office of the County Commissioner.
Otieno said that police must force the DG to record a statement over a threat that went viral in social media yesterday.
He said that before the legislator is killed; those planning to eliminate him will have to go for the more than 80,000 voters in Alego / Usonga.
Peter Omala alleged that the Alego / Usonga MP, Samuel Atandi had become a stumbling block to the Deputy Governor’s alleged corruption antics hence plans to eliminate him.
He called on the Siaya County Assembly to begin the process of impeaching the Deputy Governor for allegedly destabilizing the county government.
The Deputy Governor, has however denied claims that he has threatened the life of Atandi, saying that an audio clip that has been doing rounds was created by his political detractors.
Oduol says that he was a peaceful citizen who believes in mature politics and cannot stoop too low as to threaten any person, adding that those behind the clip and its circulations appear to be bent to settling political scores.
In the clip, a voice said to belong to Deputy Governor is heard boasting how Atandi had escaped his trap in South East Alego ward but will soon be taught a lesson.
