Road accident claims four lives

Four people died Monday evening after the bus they were travelling in lost control and fell into a ditch at Twin bridge area, Jogoo in Molo sub-county along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. 

Among the deceased was a secondary school student who had just boarded the ill-fated bus and was hoping to be home while the other three were passengers from Eldoret. 

The Nairobi bound Tahmeed company bus is said to have lost control while trying to avoid hitting an oncoming lorry that led to its landing in a ditch. 

Confirming the incident, the Kuresoi North Sub-County Police Commander, Judah Gathenge said that 17 of the passengers are nursing serious injuries while those with minor injuries were 10. 

The driver of the bus is among those who sustained minor injuries and is recuperating at the health facility. 

Gathenge said that all the survivors are receiving medical attention at Molo sub-county hospital while two have been rushed to Nakuru county hospital for further medical attention. 

The police boss assured the locals that investigations to ascertain the cause of the accident will be conducted and further warned motorists plying the Nakuru-Eldoret highway to observe all traffic rules as the accident spot is a black spot. 

Bodies of the deceased are lying at the Molo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification.
