Renowned political analyst Prof Herman Manyora has opined that Deputy President William Ruto’s recent attacks towards the government is a sign of an angry person who’s sensed defeat in the upcoming polls. Speaking during an interview on K24 TV on Tuesday night, Prof Manyora argued that the attitude showcased by the DP and his team recently, paint a picture of a frustrated unit whose strategies are not going according to plan. “In politics when an election is hotly contested, sometimes the signs of defeat begin to be very clear and you get reactions from the side that is going to lose. I am sensing frustration and a sense of seeing defeat coming from the side of UDA and that explains the anger when the DP is talking,” Prof Manyora said. He advised DP Ruto and his UDA brigade to tone down and campaign diligently, adding that losing this election will not be the end for Ruto as he is still relatively young and could contest again in 2027. “There are many people who lose an election and become wild without knowing there is tomorrow. My advice to UDA is tame your tongue, and tamper whatever you do with wisdom and reason. Your conduct today will determine whether you will re-emerge in 2027 and 2032 to contest,” he argued. Weighing in on the attack of ODM leader Raila Odinga and his entourage in Uasin Gishu last week, Manyora noted that such incidents pose a great danger to the peace of the country. In his view, Odinga, Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta enjoy massive following across the country, therefore, harming anyone of them could prove detrimental to Kenya. “This is a fragile country with too many flash points. You touch Ruto, you touch Kenyans. If anything happened to any of these guys (Uhuru, Raila, Ruto), this country will not be what we know it. It will be a different matter altogether,”  he divulged.
