EBDA Endorses Nomination of Noordin Haji as NIS boss

The Eastleigh Business District Association (EBDA) has endorsed nomination of Noordin Haji as the Director General of the National Intelligence Services (NIS).

While addressing the press on Thursday, EBDA Chairman Ahmed Yare stated that Haji has vast experience and best qualification to fill the position.

“Noordin has exemplary experience in law enforcement and justice system. He has spearheaded a range of reforms in the Office of the Director of public prosecutions (ODP). He fronted the deployment of an electronic filing system and established the prosecution Training Institute (PTI), an advanced academy within the ODPP,” said Yare.

He added that Haji had made exemplary contributions when he worked at the Attorney General’s office and as the Deputy Director of the counter organized crime Unit at the NIS.

Yare highlighted Haji's educational background including an LLB and LLM Degrees from the University of Wales in Cardiff, a master degree in National security policy from the Australian National university and a post graduate diploma from the Kenya school of law.

He further insisted that Haji played a vital role in the cease fire of political wrangles between the government and opposition.

“His understanding of the importance of a stable political environment, led him to play a critical role in initiating bipartisan talks between the main players in last year's presidential election, saving the country billions of shillings that could have been lost if protests had continued,” Yare claimed.

Additionally, EBDA’s Executive Member Dr. Mohamed Shakul faulted the civil Society’s demand to revoke Haji's nomination terming it a blatant disregard of the rule of law.
