Eliud Kipchoge conferred with a doctorate degree at JKUAT

Elite Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge has been honored with a degree of Humane Letters by The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) during its 41st graduation ceremony in the Institution on Friday, 1 December, 2023.
Kipchoge was honored due to his exemplary humanitarian and Philanthropic contributions in the society and mentorship to upcoming athletes by his remarkable achievements on the field.
The 2023 ceremony saw 4775 candidates graduate, where 513 received diploma certificates, 3,674 bachelor's degree certificates, 145 postgraduate diploma certificates, 392 master's degree certificates, and 50 doctoral degrees.
The Doctor of Human Letters (L.H.D) is one of the four doctorate honors given to individuals who have made significant contributions to society, without necessarily attending class and writing a thesis.
Kipchoge was won two Olympic gold medals at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
In 2019, he ran for 1:59:50, breaking a world record in Vienna, for being the first human to run a marathon in less than two hours, and thus came the phrase 'no human is limited .'
Kipchoge has also won eight marathon majors in London, Chicago, Tokyo and five in Berlin.
In 2021, he also created the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation, whose aim is to facilitate access to early childhood education and environmental protection.
