Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, in collaboration with the Operations Support Unit, have arrested Brian Andore for filing a fraudulent kidnapping report concerning his alleged wife, Mercy Awuor.

On November 9, 2024, Andore reported to Kitisuru Police Station that Mercy had been kidnapped by unknown assailants. According to his account, the perpetrators lured her with a job opportunity and demanded a ransom of Sh150,000 for her release. This report prompted a swift rescue operation by the detectives.

The investigation led to the arrest of the first suspect in Gitaru. However, upon interrogation, it was established that the suspect’s mobile phone had not been used to demand any ransom, contradicting Andore’s claims. With suspicions mounting, detectives expanded their search and successfully traced Mercy to Oldonyo Orok in Narok South.

To their surprise, they found Mercy safe and unharmed, accompanied by two young girls, at the home of George Odada. Further investigations revealed that George Odada was Mercy’s lawful husband; the couple has been married for six years and share a five-year-old daughter.

As the tangled web unraveled, it became clear that Andore’s kidnapping claim was a desperate act fueled by a romantic entanglement. Investigators discovered that Andore and Mercy had been involved in an extramarital affair. However, Mercy had recently chosen to end the relationship and reunite with her husband, Odada, prompting Andore’s false report in a misguided attempt to win her back.

The couple has since been escorted to Nairobi by detectives for further interrogation, statement taking, and processing, as authorities work to piece together the full extent of the case.
