Fisherman drowns in Lake Victoria

A somber mood engulfed West Kochia location, Rangwe Sub County after a 28- old- fisherman drowned near Ngegu beach in Lake Victoria.

Ngegu Beach Management Unit Chairman Caleb Oketch said the man, identified as Clinton Oguta drowned after he jumped from a moving boat in the waters of Lake Victoria, after casually telling his fellow fishermen who were with him that he wanted to bath.

However, after jumping out of the boat, he was unable to swim back into the boat so he drowned.

Oketch said the fishermen reported the incident to his office, explaining that it happened when they were about to land at the beach.

The Beach official explained that the fishermen managed to retrieve the body and that they have informed the police who have launched investigations.

The body was taken to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
