Five more bodies were retrieved from the Mukuru Kwa Njenga Quarry on Saturday July, 12, 2023, the Second day of the operation following the recovery of six bodies on Friday.
In a statement by the DCI, the bodies stacked in three nylon sacks comprised of female body parts including two legs from the knee downwards while a second bag contained two body parts, one from the neck to the waist and another from the head to the waist.
The third bag contained a lower limb from the thigh to the knee. Two other bags For contained a dog carcass and garbage respectively.
Following speculations that the murdered are victims of the recent abductions from Anti-government protests, the DCI has cleared the air that it's investigations will cover a wide range of areas including but not limited to the possible activities of cultists and serial killings.
The DCI has however noted that it's homicide detectives and forensic experts were impeded from analyzing the crime scene by rowdy and angry residents.
They have urged member of the public to allow the authorities to conduct their investigations and unravel the masterminds and motives of the horrendous murders.
"As the government deploys all necessary resources and manpower to expedite this investigation, we appeal to the members of the public to remain calm and give our detectives a chance to deliver justice to the victims of this horrendous scene." DCI noted.
Meanwhile, families whose loved ones are missing have been requested to visit the City mortuary to help identify the bodies.
Other interested parties including the LSK, civil society organizations and human rights activists have been called upon to participate in the postmortem exercise to ensure that the investigations are carried out most transparently and openly.
