FKF CEO Barry Otieno announces immediate resignation as Patrick Korir takes interim charge

Football Kenya Federation (FKF)CEO Barry Otieno, has announced his resignation from the position effective today, 8th Oct 2024, after serving for 5 years.

Barry's journey With FKF begun in 2016 as communications manager before being promoted to head of communicationa and marketing in 2017. He described his experience with FKF as "transformative and rewarding". 

The outgoing CEO thanked FKF management, delegates, staff, stakeholders and its President, Nick Mwendwa, whose leadership he described as visionary and inspirational. 

He expressed confidence over the new management and stability of FKF and pledged to execute a smooth transition. 

"It has been a privilege to serve Kenyan football. And i always cherish the experiences and memories gained during my time at FKF. I look forward to the continued growth and Sucess in Kenyan footballer." Otieno said. 

He however did not mention the specific reason behind his resignation only citing search for other opportunities. 

His exit comes at a time when the federation is preparing to hold its long long overdue elections that have been riddled by controversy and litigation.

City Stars CEO Patrick Korir has been appointed as the interim FKF CEO with immediate effect.

Korir has previously served as a journalist and football coordinator while FKF have described his new role as a 'wealth' to the Federation. 

Current President Nick Mwendwa has not made clear who to support as he concluded his two-term tenure but speculation rife he would be fronting his Vice-President Doris Petra for the top seat

Meanwhile Tom Alila has officially launched his bid to become the next Football Kenya Federation President. 

Former Harambee Stars player Taiwo Atieno Joins Sam Nyamweya’s FKF Campaign Team as Commercial Director. 

The much-awaited Football Kenya Federation (FKF) national elections will be held on December 7 this year. They will be preceded by the County polls that will be held on November 9.
