Former Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Information, Communications, Technology (ICT) and the Digital Economy Eliud Owalo has donated tracksuits to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side, Kakamega Homeboyz.
“On behalf of the Eliud Owalo Foundation, we have today donated 30 sets of tracksuits to Kakamega Homeboyz FC at an event held at Kakamega High School in Kakamega,” the former CS shared online on Friday.
He was accompanied by former Kenyan Soccer Internationals Austin Oduor, Aggrey Lukoye, Peter Dawo, Dan Musuku, George Onyango, Washington Muhanji, David Ochieng, James Goro Oronge and Dennis Munyendo among others.
“On Friday morning, former ICT CS Hon. @EliudOwalovisited the team and donated 30 pairs of tracksuits courtesy of the Eliud Owalo foundation and a motivation kitty of Ksh200,000 to the team. Our sincere gratitude to the former CS for his kind gesture,” the club said in a statement.
Owalo served in Ruto’s first cabinet from 2022 until July when it was dissolved. Some of his former colleagues made it back to the cabinet in the President’s broad-based government.
The donation is a timely boost for Kakamega Homeboyz owned by Kakamega businessman Cleophas Shimanyula alias Toto, ahead of the 2024/2025 FKF PL season which kicks off later this month.
The league campaign starts on the weekend of August 24th, with Homeboyz facing newbies Mara Sugar, coached by Harambee Stars legend, Boniface Ambani.
Homeboyz finished 7th on the log last season. The team has already made changes to the technical bench, appointing former Ushuru FC tactician Ken Kenyattaa as new head coach.
“We are pleased to announce the arrival of coach Kenneth Kenyatta as our new head coach. Kenyatta takes charge with immediate effect, preparing the team ahead of the season,” the club announced on August 02, 2024.
The coach said he will give his all to ensure Homeboyz becomes a top performer in the league, next season.
