Attorney General nominee worth Sh85 million

Attorney General nominee Dorcas Agik Oduor is worth Sh85 million.
Addressing members of the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments during her vetting on Friday, Odour said her net worth is made up of land, houses and a car.
"Since my late husband died, we have not distributed amongst my children, the total family worth is Sh85 million," she told the Speaker Moses Wetang’ula led committee.
Until her nomination on July 30, she was the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, serving under DPP Renson Ingonga. She said she is the right person for the job, owing to the vast experience garnered over the years.
“I have gained extensive experience and expertise throughout that period. Not only have I been involved in many complex courtrooms and high-profile cases, I’ve also made significant contributions in the formulation of policy and other protocols relevant to the rule of law,” she stated.
Oduor added that she is aware of the huge responsibility lying in wait at the AG’s office, if approved by MPs.
“The position of the Attorney General calls for far much more than just that of an advocate for one client, the public interest demands of the office the duty to respect, advocate and operationalize at all cadres of the administration.”
If approved by MPs, she will succeed former National Assembly Speaker Justine Bedan Muturi, making her the first woman to occupy that position in history.
“It is also not lost on me that this is a historic moment in that this will be the first time for a Kenyan woman to be interviewed for this high office in the legal sector. I’m therefore under no illusion that should I be approved by this August house, much would be expected of me, both as a jurist and, more significantly, as a woman,” added the nominee.
Muturi is now the CS for public service having been sworn-in at a function on Thursday.
