Gachagua visits Mombasa woman he assisted in April

Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua is in the Coastal City of Mombasa, for the official closing of the Kenya Tea Development Authority (KTDA) induction workshop for factory directors.
During his morning walk along Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa on Thursday morning, which has become a trademark whenever he visits any part of the country, the second in command was able to catch up with Mama Asha Sidi Chengo, the small-scale food vendor whom he first met in April, 2024.
“Starting the day with a walk reignites one's creativity, imagination and overall mental and physical fitness for best performance. I took my refreshing walk this morning along Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa, ahead of a busy working assignment in the Coastal City,” stated the DP.
“It was a pleasure catching up with Mama Asha Sidi Chengo, the small-scale food vendor, whom I met in April this year. I am happy that the business is thriving. Her son has finally joined Secondary School. We are committed to transforming our nation,” he added.
In April, Gachagua offered to support Chengo, expressing his admiration for the hard work in her business. He particularly noted her skill in baking mandazi and her cheerful service to customers.
“In my early morning walks along Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa City, I usually notice this particular woman engrossed in baking mandazi and cheerfully serving it with tea to her customers, mostly hustlers walking to their places of work,” the DP said, then.
“It was, therefore, deserving to support Asha in expanding the hustle, besides education for her two teenage sons.”
The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in Mombasa County for a series of events including the meeting with the KTDA Directors.
He is also scheduled to open the Mombasa International Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) show, and later visit the KTDA Tea Warehouse at Mengo and Miritini.
