Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has asked people of her County to stand firm and not abandon the current government led by President William Ruto.

Addressing a public gathering, Waiguru said people have to accustom themselves to political stability since much as they may want to change to opposition, it will hurt when it comes to development aspects in the region.

"I want to urge you as your leader, I don't like constant arguments because politics cannot feed our children," Waiguru said.

"I have asked people to stop misleading Kirinyaga residents by claiming I don't know the direction we should take. We elected the government of William Ruto just two years ago and now we are starting to see the results of being part of the government." She affirmed.

The same Waiguru, who has been an avid supporter of the Kenya Kwanza government led by President Ruto, noted that Kirinyaga was already enjoying fruits of being in good books with the government.

She cited infrastructural development and improvement in education as some fruits Kirinyaga is enjoying from being in good books with the government.

"Look at the roads and the schools. We are doing all these because we are in government. Now, are you ready to pack and leave all that to be in the opposition in 2027?" she asked the crowd.

"Even those currently in the opposition are trying to inch closer to the government so that they can receive some of the benefits. Why would we walk away?" Waiguru added.

Waiguru says this at a time when the political temperatures are high, with the 2027 general election in full gear and some leaders having started flirtations with the opposition.

Waiguru rallied her people to shun divisive politics and focus on development.

"Let's not be swayed by political rhetoric. Our future is brighter if we stay on the path we've chosen," she concluded.
