Governor Wanga intensifies training ahead of Roan marathon
Homabay Governor Gladys Nyasunna Wanga is training hard.
She is focused on finding fitness, ahead of the Roan Antelope Half Marathon coming up in May, 2023.
"Who is ready to run with roan in the wild? Don’t miss the Roan Antelope Half Marathon 2023 Coming up on 5th & 6th May 2023 at the Ruma National Park in Homa Bay County. We have started training. Don’t be left behind," the first term governor captioned pictures of her in training, shared on social media.
She said she will provide more information concerning the marathon in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the third edition of the Busia Border Marathon will be held on Easter Sunday, at the Busia Polytechnic.
According to the Border Marathon cordinator Sarah Martha, the competitive races will include 15 and 10 kilometres for both men and women.
She urged county residents to turn up in large numbers for the races, which will go down along free medical check ups.
Other fun races will include 5km, 2km, 100 metres and assorted kids games and entertainment.
"The theme of the Border Marathon is to build and advocate for health awareness through behaviour change and talent promotion in order to achieve sustainability and building wealthy border communities," she said.
Besides participating in the races, residents of the border county will access assorted health services at the venue including blood donation, cancer screening, diabetes and pressure testing, HIV, HPV vaccines and eye check services for free.
