Greatest Oscars ever? Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the academy awards

Virginia A huge turn of events at the iconic Oscar awards ceremony after award-winning actor Will Smith took to the stage and slapped Chris Rock for making an insensitive joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Chris Rock was on the Oscar stage presenting an award for the best documentary category when he began cracking jokes about people in the audience. The comedian then referred to Jada Pinkett as G.I. Jane in reference to her closely shaved hair. The didn;t sit well with Jada who seemed to have pulled a grin. “Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can't wait to see it, all right?" Said Chris Rock A few moments later, Will approached the stage and slapped the comedian in the face. Back in 2017, Jada had opened up about battling alopecia (sudden hair loss that starts with one or more circular patches). Later that evening, Smith apologized for his outburst while accepting the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in King Richard, in which he portrayed Venus and Serena Williams' father, tennis coach Richard Williams. "I want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees," Smith said with tears in his eyes. "This is a beautiful moment and I'm not crying for winning an award, it's not about winning an award for me." To his apology, he added something that Denzel Washington told him earlier. “Denzel told me at your highest moment is when the devil comes for you”. According to reports, Chris Rock refused to press charges against will at the LAPD.
