Kirinyaga Woman Rep Wangui Ngirici has responded to a statement by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria claiming that her decision to quit UDA Party could amount to political suicide.
In a statement on Sunday March 27, Kuria suggested that Kirinyaga is behind the Kenya Kwanza alliance and advised Ngirici to align herself with the ground, lest she be deemed politically irrelevant.
“To my very good friend Wangui Ngirici. Listen to your people. They decided a long time ago. Do not be misled to commit political suicide,” Kuria posted.
Responding to Kuria, Ngirici in a coded statement suggested that the Gatundu South had already mapped out his way forward and secured nomination to contest Kiambu governorship on his Chama Cha Kazi party, yet he wanted her to contest in UDA nominations where she is not guaranteed of a fair and transparent exercise.

Giving an example of Kiambu, Ngirici noted that Kuria, former Governor William Kabogo and incumbent Governor James Nyoro are certain they will be on ballot on their various political parties, but for other three candidates like Senator Kimani Wamatangi, they have to take part in nominations, where only one will emerge victorious.
"Thank you Moses Kuria for the advice, however from your observation, it seems like Kiambu shall have 5 Governors duly elected on the 9/8/22. It's very clear that Gvn Kabogo, Nyoro, you and I are playing chess while your other 3 competitors are playing football. 2 of them shall have to be taken for first aid pretty soon,” she posted.
Ngirici who was at one point a staunch supporter of Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA Party ditched the camp after incumbent Governor Anne Waiguru joined the team.
While ditching UDA, Ngirici accused the party of mistreating her despite being one of its founding members.
Ngirici will be contesting the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate and is expected to face off with among others; Governor Waiguru and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua.
