The Arsenal Football Club won the Community Shield on Sunday evening after beating last season's Champions League, EPL, and FA winners, Manchester City, at Wembley Stadium.

The Gunners beat Man City in a penalty shootout to claim their first trophy of the 2023/24 season after 90 minutes of regular play ended in a 1-1 draw.

They scored four penalties while Pep Guardiola's boys only managed to score once in their three attempts.

Following this victory, diverse opinions emerged on social media, with some football fans praising the London-based club, while others mocked the victory.

Fans also analysed and commented on Manchester City's performance following the defeat.

The Twitter account @TrollFootball commented on the poor performance of Man City's troublesome striker Erling Haaland in that match and in the recent pre-season games.

"Premier League fans after seeing Haaland's poor performance in the Community Shield match but remembering he did the same last season," read a comment from @TrollFootball, which was accompanied by a video of Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl celebrating after taking the lead in their game against the Gunners last season.

Among the people who commented on the video was none other than Erling Haaland's biological father, Alfie Halaand, who jokingly praised Mikel Arteta's boys and suggested they would win the 2023/24 EPL trophy.

"Well done Arsenal, big win. You must be the league favourites now,” Alfie Halaand said.

Striker Erling Halaand showed a weak performance against Arsenal on Sunday evening until Man City coach Pep Guardiola was forced to substitute him with youngster Cole Palmer in the 64th minute.

Palmer scored a nice goal 13 minutes after coming on, giving City a lead before Arsenal equalised in the extra time toward the end of the match.

However, Man City's hope of lifting their first trophy of the season was dashed after captain Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri missed their penalties, while Arsenal's Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, Bukayo Saka, and Fabio Vera scored all their attempts.
