I doubt if Ruto can fight impunity - Kabando

Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) Kabando Wa Kabando is doubtful of president William Ruto's resolve to fight impunity.

The former legislature says instead of lamenting in funerals and replying threads on X over claims of judiciary sabotaging his administration, the president should institute a state capture inquiry.

"Rais Ruto you aren't helpless! Instead of lamenting at funerals then waking up to reply threads on X, muster presidential courage to institute state capture inquiry. Implement TJRC and Kroll reports," said the former MP.

"Adherence to the Constitution of Kenya (CoK) 2010 is obligatory. Dare crash impunity, can you? We truly doubt," added Kabando.

The former MP was responding to president Ruto's message on kicking out alleged corrupt judicial officers, in a bid to end impunity at the country's justice system, posted on X earlier.

"Ahmednasir SC, you warned me of sabotage by corrupt judicial officers. I told you there are many good officers in the judiciary and that we will root out the corrupt. We shall," wrote the Head of State.

"Muite SC, the impunity of bribing judges so as not to derail, delay, or sabotage Kenya’s imminent transformation will never happen under my watch. Not a single cent will be used to bribe nobody."

The statement came on the backdrop of other strong sentiments issued on Tuesday, when he accused some judicial officers of sabotaging his plan for Kenyans, hinder the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“We are a democracy. We respect and we will protect the independence of the judiciary. What we will not allow is judicial tyranny and judiciary impunity. That will not happen,” he warned.

He also said that some judges were working in cahoots with individuals, so as to frustrate his development agenda, especially in the health sector.

Ruto warned that he may have to disobey some court orders, to ensure that his agenda for Kenyans is fulfilled.
