Ruto meets UNICEF regional director, assures him in children protection
President William Ruto on Wednesday held discussions with UNICEF regional director for Eastern and Southern Africa Mohamed Malik Fall, at State House Nairobi.
Ruto applauded the United Nations Children’s Fund for putting in measures to ensure that children grow up in secure and inclusive environments around the globe.
He said his administration will continue to work with UNICEF, for protection of children in the country.
“Kenya undertakes to continue working with UNICEF to scale up the protection and provision of various programs for children, including feeding for arid areas,” noted the Head of State.
Meanwhile, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was in Embu County inspecting various government development projects.
Among the projects is the proposed Njukuri Sports Stadium. Upon completion, the 15, 000 capacity stadia will have an Olympic size swimming pool as well as other amenities of international standard.
“I also inspected the rehabilitation and upgrading of Moi Stadium, the venue of this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations on 1st June, 2023. In addition, I took time to visit Embu market to discus with traders’ plans for relocation to give way for the construction of a four storey modern market,” said the second in command.
He said the people of Embu are among the key stakeholders in President William Ruto’s administration.
“The people of Embu voted for President William Ruto to a man; they are indeed, and rightfully so, major shareholders of our government.”
He was accompanied by among others, Ababu Namwamba, Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Charles Hinga, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development and Embu governor Cecily Mbarire.
