Deputy President William Ruto has said he is not scared of the influence of powerful government operatives popularly known as deep state on the country’s upcoming 2022 general election.
Speaking in Kwale, the DP noted that he is a government insider and knows how deep state operates, adding that there is no way he can be rigged out of the 2022 presidential election.
" I am the Deputy President; do you think that there is any deep state that I do not know about? Do you think that there is a system I do not know about? If you look at me, do I look like someone whose votes can be stolen? They should look for someone else," the DP was quoted by Nation.
The DP cited recent by-elections conducted in Kiambaa, Juja and Msambweni, arguing that all the polls were in regions perceived to be deep state strongholds, but the hustler team managed to win them all.

"We also defeated them in Juja and did the same for Kiambaa where it is President Uhuru's Kenyatta's home and he didn't do anything," Ruto added.
While traversing the county, the DP noted that he is the best candidate to takeover from President Uhuru Kenyatta, arguing that he has fast-hand knowledge on all projects initiated by the Jubilee government.
He also popularised his bottom-up philosophy, promising to ensure Kenyans at the lowest level are not left behind if he forms the next government.
In a bid to avoid fall outs especially in areas perceived to be Azimio la Umoja strongholds, the DP noted that they’ll be having negotiated democracy so that other candidates step down in favour of the strongest.
