By Peter Ochieng Kisumu Senator Fred Outa believes Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party should not skip gubernatorial primaries in the Lakeside County, stating that Governor Anyang' Nyong'o is not popular to be handed a direct ticket. The Orange party has already declared plans to skip nominations in certain parts of the Country and hand out direct tickets to some of the candidates, ahead of the August 09, 2022 polls. It is alleged that governor Nyong'o, who is seeking to serve for a second time is among the politicians expected to get a direct ticket. "I don't dispute direct ticket being issued by my party ODM. However, in a contest of two or three, for that matter, the party should issue a direct ticket after negotiations. That's very vital," said the former Nyando MP via his Facebook page on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. "Like in the case of Kisumu County, why would the ticket be given to Anyang Nyong'o. One, he's not popular, two, he has failed in discharging his mandate, save for the donor-funded projects, which had timelines and strict supervision. It's Nyong'o vs Obura, kwa debe." The first-term Senator is supporting former Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura in the Kisumu County gubernatorial seat. Obura's camp also includes Kisumu County's first governor Jack Ranguma. Ranguma and Outa decided to support Obura, with a belief that he is best placed to beat Governor Nyong'o.
