Jalang'o responds to ODM expulsion with a Bible verse

By Peter Ochieng

Lang'ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor popularly known as Jalang'o chose a Bible verse from the new testament as the best respond to being suspended from the ODM party.

The first term MP was on Wednesday alongside four others suspended after being found guilty, of going against party wishes drawn from collaborating with president William Ruto.

But the comedian turned politician, while quoting 1st Corinthians 10:13 said there is no temptation worth not enduring.

"No trial is too heavy to lift! No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it," the first term MP wrote on X.

Jalang'o, Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, Bondo's Gideon Ochanda and Suba South's Caroli Omondi found themselves in the bad books of ODM, after meeting president William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua twice, at State House Nairobi.

However, lawyer Miguna Miguna stated that the five have been unfairly treated.

He said Nairobi County Women Representative Esther Passaris deserved harsh treatment compared to the five legislatures.

Passaris who voted in favour of the Finance Bill, 2023 against her party was warned and fined Sh250, 000.

"Esther Passaris who has repeatedly met with, endorsed President @WilliamsRuto, and voted with the Kenya Kwanza government in parliament, is “fined” a paltry figure and “warned”, but the Luo MPs whose only crimes were to visit @StateHouseKenya and express their opinions as of right under the Constitution are expelled," said the vocal lawyer.

Reacting to the expulsion, Senator Ojienda said he has no apology to make to the ODM party.

"My Party has today expelled me for working with HE President William Ruto. I have no apology and will continue to work with the President."

Speaking in Homabay months back, president Ruto told Jalang'o that being expelled or suspended from ODM actually means that good things are in store.

He said he faced the same predicament while in ODM years back, and now he is the president.
