Malala calls out ODM for expelling 'rebel' MPs

By Peter Ochieng

United Democtratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala on Wednesday reffered to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as a dictatorship party.

Malala's assertion came after the Orange party led by Raila Odinga expelled five legislatures, after being found guilty of wrongs bordering on working shoulder to shoulder with president William Ruto.

The five are Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, Gem's Elisha Odhiambo and Bondo's Gideon Ochanda.

On the other hand, Nairobi county women representative Ester Pessaries was fined Sh250, 000 for supporting the Finance Bill, 2023 against the parties wishes.

Reacting to the move, Malala claimed that having an independent mind in ODM is unheard off.

"Orange Dictatorship Movement (ODM) where Democracy, freedom of thought and association is a capital offence," Malala wrote on X.

The ODM National Executive Committee (NEC) led by party leader Raila Odinga also fined two MPs, that had expressed willingness to work with Kenya Kwanza Sh1 million.

The two; Paul Abuor and Mark Nyamita appeared in person before the Disciplinary Committee, and explained reasons for their actions.

Further the NEC announced that five nominated MCAs at the Kisumu County Assembly will lose their seasts, for 'flirting with' president Ruto's Kenya Kwanza administration.

Caroline Opar, Kennedy Ajwang, Peter Obaso and Regina Kizito are among those affected.

However, Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda maintained that he has no apology to make to his party, and that he will continue working with the Head of State.
