Rubis Kenya Managing Director and CEO Jean-Christian Bergeron has been deported following accusations of economic sabotage over the ongoing fuel crisis currently experienced countrywide. Bergeron was deported after President Uhuru Kenyatta held a meeting with Energy Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma at State House Nairobi on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, and recommended sanctions against oil marketing companies complicit in creating an artificial fuel shortage in the country. The measure by the government came at the back of allegations by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) that oil marketers in Kenya are selling fuel meant for use within the country.
