German and Bayer Leverkusen international defender Jonathan Tah has officially announced his decision not to extend his contract with the Bundesliga club.

Tah confirmed that he will leave the club at the end of this season to seek a new challenge.

In a candid interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ), the 28-year-old expressed his desire to seek a different experience after eight years with the club.

"I will not sign a new contract at Bayer Leverkusen. My decision has been made," Tah revealed, shutting down any speculation about his future at the club.

The big central defender has been a mainstay in Leverkusen's defense since he joined it from Hamburger SV in 2015.

His consistent performance over the years has made him recognized not only in the Bundesliga but also on the international stage with the German national team.

Despite deciding to move, Tah made it clear that his commitment to Bayer Leverkusen has not wavered until the end of the season.

"I will give my best until the end here, and then we will see about my future club. But my decision is to go try a different experience," he said and emphasized his commitment to the team as it continues to play domestically and in European competitions.

Tah's decision to leave Leverkusen marks the end of an important chapter in his career.

During his time at the club, he has played more than 250 matches, helping the team to four consecutive top-flight finishes in the Bundesliga and numerous UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League runs.

Known for his physical presence, strong tackling, and ability to play out from the back, Tah has established himself as one of the league's top defenders.

With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2025, Tah's future remains unclear.

However, his availability on a free transfer is likely to attract major clubs across Europe.

Premier League and Serie A clubs, in particular, have been linked with a move for the German defender, who would bring vast experience and leadership to any team.

As Jonathan Tah prepares for his final months at Bayer Leverkusen, the aim will be to maintain high standards for the rest of the season.

With Leverkusen aiming for a strong finish in the Bundesliga and a possible run in the European competition, Tah's contribution could be crucial in helping the club achieve its goals before embarking on the next chapter of his career.
