Police in Narok West Sub County are holding a juvenile boy aged 17 years who is believed to have killed his seven-year-old brother alleging he was getting more favours from their parents.
According to Narok County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro, the suspect, who lives with their parents at Olderkesi area, called his brother at 7.30 pm last evening to accompany him to the nearby stream to go and swim.
While at the stream, the elder brother questioned the younger one why the parents were favouring him by allocating him a piece of land.
It is then that the suspect, who was armed with a Maasai sword, chopped off his younger brother’s head and he died instantly.
The police boss confirmed that the head of the deceased was found about five meters away from the body but the murder weapon was not immediately recovered.
The body of the deceased was taken to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary as the police investigate the matter further.
Following the incident, the county police commander called on parents to spend quality time with their children and counsel them on the right things to do.
“During this long holiday, I call upon parents not to ignore their children. They should spend a lot of time with them, to understand them and to guide them on the right direction,” he said.
