Kabando: Ruto right to invite Raila for talks via Twitter
President William Ruto did nothing wrong in inviting Azimio leader Raila Odinga for talks via Twitter.
Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) Kabando wa Kabando said talks between Ruto and Odinga must be public, hence nothing wrong with the Twitter invite.
"Raila, as the de facto leader of maandamano, should this time remember that Kenyans are the de jure stakeholders of dialogue. Any secret talks will be akin infamous handshake. BBI was rejected because it was a fraud. It's perfectly in order for Ruto to invite Raila via Twitter," said the former legislature.
On Tuesday, Odinga told the nation that Tanzania president Samia Suluhu Hassan was here two weeks ago, to initiate dialogue between the two leaders, but the Head of State was a no show.
"My friend Raila Odinga, am off to Tanzania for a human capital meeting to harmonise the expansion of employment opportunities in our continent. Am back tomorrow evening, and as you have always known, am available to meet one on one with you anytime at your convenience," the president said in a tweet.
However, Minority Leader in the National Assembly James Opiyo Wandayi accused Ruto of disrespecting Odinga.
"Ruto must respect Baba (Raila Odinga), inviting him via a tweet is disrespectful," said the Ugunja MP.
He spoke while being interviewed on Ramogi Radio on Wednesday morning.
