Kajiado County Government has embarked on a staff audit exercise to establish the actual work force.
The exercise, which is being conducted by the Institute of Human Resource Management, seeks to weed out ‘ghost’ workers by verifying and evaluating the number of staff employed by the County Government through biometric registration.
Speaking after presenting his documents for verification to the auditing team, Governor Joseph Lenku said the human resource audit will help establish the number of workers at the county, verify the work they do and the departments they work in.
Lenku said his administration was working towards ensuring a competent and effective human resource.
He noted that the staff audit exercise will help align the skills of employees with the work requirements which will greatly contribute to the overall efficiency and service delivery.
“Today, we took a deliberate yet very significant step to address the critical challenges arrising from human resource management through a staff audit, this can be achieved by aligning the skill set of our employees with the work requirements,” Lenku said.
The Governor added that the audit will include verification and authentication of employment and academic documents presented by employees and called on all staff to cooperate.
Employees are required to present originals and copies of appointment letters, academic and professional certificates, letter for current position, National Identity Card, last three months’ pay slips, filled head count questionnaire among other requirements.
