Kakamega Homeboyz were trailed to a 1-0 defeat by Nairobi City Stars in front of fan packed Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match played on Friday afternoon.
Homeboyz pulled up an early attack through Davis Kasirye whose right-footed shot was forced off by goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe in the 10th minute.
After a dry first half, Homeboyz introduced midfielder Gospel Otieno, who came in for Eston Omengo in attempts to search for an opener.
A reselient City stars was forced into a series of saves from a fierce Homeboyz who looked better on aerial attacks and counter football.
However, the visitors opened the score sheet in the 61st minute when Clifford Ouma's powerful shot was punched by goalkeeper James Ssetuba, and the rebound was found by Wycliffe Omondi, who sent it into the back of the net.
Moses Mudavadi would have secured an equalizer for the hosts but his selfish efforts went wide adding more frustration to the fans.
Finally it was Nicholas Muyoti’s men who bagged the three points climbing to 5th with 27 points while Homeboyz settle on 4th with 27 points up by goal difference.
