KCPE and KPSEA examinations kick off smoothly in Taita-Taveta County

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations kicked off smoothly in Taita-Taveta County with over 16,000 candidates reporting for two examinations.

The opening and distribution of the papers were overseen by the Cabinet Secretary for Mining Salim Mvurya who praised the elaborate security measures put in place to guarantee the integrity of the whole examination process.

Speaking at Mwanyambo Primary School on Monday after witnessing the opening of the first examination paper, Mvurya said the government was committed to offering a conducive environment in learning institutions for candidates.

The CS added that there had been no reports of incidents from the region.

“We are satisfied with the progress and level of preparation by the examination team. This is to ensure that we retain the integrity of the entire process,” said the CS.

He was accompanied by senior government officials including the county commissioner Josephine Onunga and education officials.

The county has registered 8,680 candidates for KPSEA examination. They include 4,504 boys and 4,176 girls. The candidates will sit their examinations in 236 registered examination centers.

For KCPE, the county has a total number of registered candidates at 8,507. The boys are 4,444 while girls are 4,063. The region has 222 examination centers.
