KDF soldiers die in night of a Huey Helicopter crash in Lamu

A Kenya Air force huey military helicopter crashed on Monday night during a military patrol in Lamu County killing its crew members on board. 

The Kenya Defense Forces inna statement on Tuesday morning reported the incident, 

"A Kenya Air Force Huey Helicopter crashed last night while on a night patrol in Lamu County." KDF said in a statement. 

"The crew and other military personnel onboard were part of an air surveillance squadron intensifying day and night patrols and surveillance for the ongoing Operation Amani Boni," KDF added. 

KDF further sent their condolences to the families of the deceased whilst it hasn't disclosed the number of officers who died from the crash. 

Meanwhile, a board of inquiry has been dispatched to the scene to establish the cause of the crash. 

The Huey helicopter is a 14 seater utility military chopper used to transport military personnel, including special operations and surveillance in Kenya. 

On Thursday, July 20, another Kenya Defence Forces helicopter crashed but the military confirmed that the crew and all passengers on board survived.
