The government has released a report highlighting her progress since the Kenya Kwanza government took office last year.

The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Alfred Mutua said diplomatic engagements since the new administration took office have led to economic growth, securing international partnerships, and championing the rights of Kenyan diasporas.

Transformation. In a comprehensive overview of Kenya's foreign policy accomplishments, Dr. Mutua while addressing the press on Tuesday emphasized on the significant strides made in diplomacy, economic cooperation, and humanitarian efforts.

Addressing the Global Diplomatic Engagements, Mutua said… “Kenya has successfully concluded her participation at the High-level Week of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.”

He added that the president's address to the General Assembly marked a historic moment for Kenya's foreign policy. According to the CS, the president's international travels have strategically sought economic opportunities for Kenya.

Notably, the country signed the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Agreement with the USA, securing a US$ 60 Million grant to improve public transport in Nairobi, easing traffic congestion.

Most importantly, Dr. Mutua noted that bilateral meetings and agreements have expanded across sectors such as sports, environment, finance, and more, all with the aim of benefiting the Kenyan people.

Dr. Mutua clarified Kenya's foreign policy stance, stating, “Many have asked whether our policy is east or west-leaning. Our policy is World Leaning for the benefit of our people."

He explained that as a result, the high-level outbound and inbound visits, along with the resolution of Non-Tariff Barriers, have significantly increased trade, bolstering market access for Kenyan goods and services.

The CS lauded the agreements on Visa-free travel to countries like South Africa, DRC, Senegal, Eritrea, and Congo, Brazzaville as he acknowledged that it has opened doors for business opportunities and professional jobs, leading to a surge in diaspora remittances.

On Economic Advancements, the CS said Kenya's economic diplomacy has resulted in Moderna's commitment to establish a US$ 500 million pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing plant in Tatu City, creating jobs and bolstering forex reserves.

He explained that the Ministry has facilitated vital business forums, including the Kenya-European Union Business Forum and the Kenya-United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreement, which secured substantial funding for sustainable investments.

Dr. Mutua revealed that engagements with Asian nations led to MOUs in areas such as Carbon Credits, ICT, trade, investments, labor mobility, and Skills Development.

Touching on diaspora impact, the CS expressed that Kenya's commitment to the welfare of the Kenyan diaspora has been evident through strategic engagements across the globe, sensitization webinars, and service delivery.

Dr. Mutua emphasized that Mobile Consular Services (MCS) have been extended to thousands of Kenyans abroad, with plans for further expansion and digitalization of government services.

The CS explained that remittances from the diaspora have been a crucial support for Kenya's economy, totaling close to Sh.500 billion in the past 12 months.

Dr. Mutua said that the Ministry prioritized the welfare of distressed Kenyans, evacuating citizens from various crisis-stricken regions and initiating bilateral labor agreements to secure jobs globally.

The CS cautioned Kenyans to follow proper procedures when seeking employment abroad, emphasizing the need for recognized immigration agents and appropriate visa classes.

“Kenya's role in environmental diplomacy was highlighted by hosting the Africa Climate Summit, advocating for climate change action, and unifying Africa's voice on climate issues,” said the CS. Dr. Mutua said the ministry rejuvenated its Peace Diplomacy Pillar, recognizing that regional peace is essential for economic growth.

The CS noted that Kenya has showcased its commitment to international peace by pledging support for Haiti's recovery.

He disclosed that plans are in motion for Kenya to lead a Police Mission to stabilize Haiti, with support from several other nations.
