Interior and National administration Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning to security and National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) engaged in corrupt activities.

Speaking at Elangata Wuas sub county in Kajiado West on Tuesday, the CS said he will not allow a few corrupt individuals to taint the image of the government by soliciting for bribes from citizens in order to provide services.

Kindiki noted that despite a majority of officers serving with diligence, patriotism and dedication, there were a few individuals tarnishing the image and honour of the government by demanding bribes from citizens.

“We will not condone a few officers who tarnish the reputation of the entire public service. Such officers will not only be dealt with administratively but prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Kindiki said.

The CS added that citizens also have a duty to cooperate with Government officers in the execution of their mandate, obey and respect the law and maintain order.

He revealed that the government will continue to facilitate its officers by providing modern equipment, improving their welfare, and other necessities to enhance service delivery.

“For those of us doing their work diligently, we will progressively improve your welfare and ensure you are adequately facilitated but for those engaging in bribery and corrupt deals, just know that your days are numbered.” Said Kindiki.

At the same time, the CS warned those planning on engaging in unlawful political protests and destroying public property.

“We will not allow destruction of property and looting like it happened during the past political demonstrations. Those planning to destabilise the security of the country by engaging in such protests will be dealt with squarely.” Kindiki emphasised.
