Kevin De Bruyne marked his return to Premier League action with a masterful goal and assist to lead Manchester City to a 3-2 win against Newcastle United at the St. James Park on Saturday night.
The victory was City's first win in three visits to St James’ Park.
Newcastle started early when Alexander Isak served Sean Longstaff for the midfielder to slide the ball home but the ball was ruled out for an offside as Isak played behind City's defense.
City were hit with a blow as Shot stopped Ederson left injured after the collision with Longstaff, who then made a mistake that went unpunished following a wild attempt from Bruno Guimaraes before being substituted.
Despite the Ederson setback City continued to knock as Bernardo Silva missed the target and Jeremy Doku’s attempt was blocked.
The visitors finally earned their opener opener in the 26th minute when Kyle Walker’s cross was met by a flick from Silva the midfielder netting his third goal in five matches.
Silva punched again although his wonderful effort was tipped onto the woodwork by Nick Pope.
Three minutes later Alexander Isak restored parity for the hosts as he cut through Walker to score his fifth goal in last his last five matches.
Anthony Gordon would not let city rest when he Outren Kyle Walke and curled a super strike into the bottom corner giving Newcastle the lead.
City were determined for an equalizer but Martin Dubravka remained reluctant to let Julian Alvarez’s free-kick and Phil Foden’s effort into his net.
Pep Guardiola made tactical changes In the 69th minute bringing in Kevin De Bruyne who made his return for his first PL minutes since the opening day.
King Kevin did not take long to announce his comeback sliding a well-placed shot through Fabian Schar’s legs and into the bottom corner making the scores level.
De Bruyne who never grows weary wad yet again involved this time serving substitute Oscar Bobb who wasted no chance to complete the comeback for Cityzens in the 94th minute of the game also scoring his first league goal and earn Man City’s sixth consecutive win in all competitions.
The victory also took city second on the premier league standings with 43 points two shy of leaders Liverpool while troubled Newcastle suffered their fifth Premier league defeat in six matches Puting Eddie Howe's job in a precarious position.
