The Kenya Universities and colleges Central placement Service (Kuccps) has extended the deadline for TVET application to January 12, 2024.

In a reminder posted on its social media handles on Wednesday, 3 January, 2023, The Higher Education placement institution stated that the application targets individuals who sat the KCSE exam from 2000 to 2022.

Furthermore, the institution stated that Applicants may visit any public TVET institution across the country for assistance.

The TVET application had officially been opened from December 20, 2023 to January 2, 2024.

In the extension, applicants who had missed out to apply on the previous placement window but eligible can submit their applications running through the next nine days.

Application for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses targeted 12,705 students to be enrolled under the Competency-Based Curriculum beginning January 2024.

Last year, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu directed all TVET institutions to adopt the new curriculum with immediate effect.

In a circular to principals of the institutions, Machogu noted that the government had established the necessary legal and regulatory framework including the enhancement of TVET infrastructure across the country.

“All Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions (should) embark on the implementation of the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) without further delay,” Machogu said in the circular dated October 5, 2023.

Under the extended application, 39 Public universities will be available for eligible government scholarships and HELB loans while 30 private universities will be available, eligible for HELB loans only.

236 Public colleges and Ministry of Education TVETs are available for Eligible Government scholarships and HELB Loans only while 115 public colleges are available in other ministries, only 11 TVETs are available.
