Laikipia rancher Lucy Jennings who was shot on Sunday on her way to church by an unknown assailant has died, the family has said.

The rancher died on Thursday while undergoing treatment of gunshot wounds at Pope Benedict XIV Hospital in Nyahururu after she was critically injured during the Sunday morning incident.

According to her brother Njihia Mbugua, the deceased had been in the ICU unit in Nyahururu Hospital before her condition worsened, succumbing to death.

Laikipia County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri said that no stone would be left unturned until the culprits connected with the shooting incident are held accountable.

Investigations are still on-going to apprehend the assailants and at the same time to gather enough evidence that would be used to charge the six suspects who are already in police custody in a court of law.
