"Leave me Alone!" Gachagua slams MPs plotting his Impeachment

Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has castigated Members of Parliament behind the impeachment plot against him.

Speaking at a rally in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, the DP told off his political foes to keep him off their 'dirty politics' and allow him to work with the President.

Similarly, Gachagua has pleaded with president william Ruto to allow him to work for Kenyans for the remaining three years of their term. Gachagua has maintained his stance that he was not appointed on the seat but rather elected by Kenyans as the Deputy President.

Gachagua has made more stops during his mount Kenya visit at Runyenjes and Embu town before proceeding to Meru county.

Gachagua has recently told off President William Ruto for inciting parliamentarians to impeach him against the will of the Kenyan people.

The Embattled DP has further maintained that he will not be intimidated by mere threats of impeachment.

“If Ruto is tired of Mt Kenya votes he should tell us, let him stop telling Members of Parliament to impeach me," DP Gachagua stated.

“I will not be intimidated. They are calling for my resignation, I will not allow it, I was given the job by the Kenyan people," he added.

Gachagua made similar sentiments on September 20th when he made a stop at Marikiti Market to listen into the grievances of traders following planned relocation of the Marikiti and Wakulima markets.

"Wananitisha mimi; ati watakusanya wabunge wanifukuze.

The DP further warned the MPs against engaging in divisive politics, chastising them for holding secret meetings to plot his impeachment.

Ukitaka kupiga Rigathi Gachagua, usiende kwa hoteli, kuja hapa Marigiti," said the DP.

The Deputy President has occasionally cautioned President Ruto against betraying the Mt Kenya voters, claiming that if it was not for him (Gachagua), the Head of State would not have received votes from the region.

Gachagua's frequently visits to the Mt. Kenya region is seen as an effort to solidify his position as the most influential politician from the area.

Despite his efforts, a faction of Mt. Kenya MPs have withdrawn their support for him as the region’s political spokesperson, opting instead to endorse Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki.
