Ugenya MP David Ochieng has called on school heads in his constituency to allow pupils to transit to the next level as the government tackles the confusion dogging the competency-based curriculum (CBC) implementation.

Ochieng said that he expects a hundred percent transition from grade six to seven in the constituency and called on school heads not to place any demands on parents.

He was speaking at Sega township primary school in Ugenya sub-county during the launch of the constituency scholarship programme.

“Let us not allow the confusion in government to affect the students,” said the legislator adding that requirements such as uniforms and stationery that are mandatory should be put on hold pending government directions.

Addressing the occasion, Assistant County Commissioner for Siaya division, Jonathan Kiptoo ordered chiefs, their assistants, and village elders to comb the villages and ensure that all those who sat for the CBC grade six proceed to grade seven.

Kiptoo told parents to heed the call and ensure that no student remains at home as others continue with their education.

Ugenya sub county director of education, Margaret Odembo said that all primary schools in the area now have junior secondary school sections to accommodate pupils who pass through lower grades in the primary section.

Odembo said that five primary schools in the sub county that did not have the JSS section have finally received the green light after the government approved their registration.
