Residents of Pakaase in Magadi, Kajiado West Constituency have been marooned by floods due to the ongoing heavy rains in the area.

According to former area Member of County Assembly, Joseph Masiaya, the residents have been cut-off from essential services.

Due to the heavy rains, Ewuaso Ngiro River has broken its banks rendering Nguruman road, which connects the area to Magadi town, impassable.

“For the past one week, Pakaase residents do not have food and cannot access medical services. No vehicle can access the area and shops have run out of food. Drugs are not available. I am appealing to the Kenya Red Cross, the County and National governments and all the other well-wishers to chip in and help those people, to access essential services,” requested Masiaya.

He also appealed to the Kajiado County Government to fast track the construction of Shompole bridge, once the rains stop as it will provide an alternative route for the residents to access essential services.
