Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has appealed to Ukambani locals to join the United Democratic Movement (UDA) ahead of the August 9 poll.
Muthama who is also the UDA chairman says the Kamba community interest will be better handled under the government that will be formed by the Kenya Kwanza team led by Deputy President William Ruto.
In a tweet, Muthama said it was time the Kamba Nation emulated their Mount Kenya counterparts by unanimously supporting the winning team.

According to the UDA Chairman, DP Ruto is poised to be the next president, despite what he said were roadblocks that the government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta has created.
The President has already declared his support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga under the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.
“It's high time all Kambas join @UDAKenya coz it's the Party poised to form the next Govt. Let's emulate Mt. Kenya Residents who are unanimously supporting @WilliamsRuto coz they know he's the next President despite the roadblocks being created by proponents of Azimio coalition,” Muthama tweeted.
He also posted a video that he largely spoke in the native Kamba dialect. The former Senator is eyeing the Machakos gubernatorial seat under the UDA party.
Muthama is hoping to help deliver the Ukambani votes to the DP who also has the support of a number of Members of Parliament among them Victor Munyaka of Machakos Town Constituency.
DP Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza team have an uphill task getting the Ukambani votes following a recent move by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to join Azimio la Umoja.
Kalonzo is considered a Kamba community kingpin.
Already several other political leaders from the region among them Governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Kivuta Kibwana (Makueni), and Charity Ngilu of Kitui have declared their support for Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
