Former Machakos county first lady Lilian Ng'ang'a posed a debatable comment via her socials comparing the Kenyan movie industry to the South African industry.
She noted that Kenya's counterparts in the South African film industry have a more smooth way of acting while on the other hand Kenyan actors do too much acting which makes them look unreal while acting.
"SA (South Africa) actors are smooth. Kenyans… too much acting,” she said.

Lilian also noted that local Kenyan films lack the umph to keep someone glued to the screen unlike the South African ones. According to her, the creative industry in South Africa produces gripping and unpredictable scripts that are compelling to watch till the end.
"South African series have the most gripping and twisted scripts that have one glued to the screen for days on end,” she stated.
She challenged the local creative industry to up their game.
"Kenyan series contents cannot be compared to the South African series. No comparison with Kenyan series. There is a need to up the game," Lillian stated.
The comparison with South African creative industry has been a debate that keeps being said.
Kenyan Musician Otile Brown also compared the creative environment to the Kenyan environment saying the South African entertainment industry is not loud but it's very rich.
Otile was quick to note that South Africans play South African music in clubs, in their public transport and even in restaurants. He noted that you could be having a big song in Africa but you may not even hear it play in South Africa.
Otile and Lilian's statement comes in the midst of artists trying to push for local media to play 75 % Kenyan content. Others still argue that the quality is not yet par to be given that much coverage.
