Molo sub-county Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Josphat Mutisya has urged the locals to champions in helping eliminating societal ills.
Laying much emphasis on theft, sale of unlicensed liquor and bhang, Mutisya observed that the locals are better placed to give credible information to the security teams within the area for prompt action.
"Stop raising complaints on the failure of the police in addressing insecurity matters. We need a good rapport and get information from the community that will go a long way in bringing the culprits to book,” noted Mutisya.
He pointed out that the locals are in the know of those that are in conflict with the law and thus should make it a collective responsibility for sobriety in the society.
“The locals are conversant with those stealing, selling unlicensed liquor, bhang and other substances and thus the need for cooperation in this fight," he added.
His sentiments come after the business community complained of vehicle theft and other petty crimes saying that the police need to act in time.
With this, he challenged them to put in place measures such as installation of CCTV cameras, employing of security guards, having security devices in vehicles, be ready to volunteer information that will help in the investigations when need be.
“We will not relent on addressing insecurity concerns in the area and stern action will be taken against those found on the wrong side of the law,” he warned.
He urged the locals not to be malicious when volunteering information to the security agents by expecting a payment but make it a personal responsibility in the fight against ending such vices.
Mutisya assured them of handling the information shared with confidentiality adding that the security agents are committed in serving the locals to their best and hence they should play their part well for the good of all.
He asked the area chiefs to continue intensifying patrols and give a listening ear to the concerns of the locals on how best they can be served.
