Lomorukai promises to invest in County Staff welfare to boost performance

Turkana County Government will continue investing in health to improve the welfare of staff to boost service delivery and achieve development goals.

Speaking when he launched comprehensive medical insurance coverage, Governor Jeremia Lomorukai stated his commitment to maintaining a healthy and productive workforce.

“This launch actualises my commitment to having a healthy and productive human resource. It ensures that government employees have access to better medical facilities in the market. 

“It is a long-term commitment and investment in the welfare of our employees, and my government will continue to invest in this and similar welfare programmes,” he said.

The county boss commended Jubilee Insurance, who have been contracted to provide the insurance services, as a reputable company with a track record of exemplary services. He challenged the company to maintain a high level of performance.

The medical cover launched, included four components: the comprehensive medical insurance cover, group life assurance, group life personal accident, and work injury benefits act.

The Governor asked the management of Lodwar County Referral Hospital (LCRH), which is included in the cover as a service provider, to ensure all patients received quality healthcare.

Deputy Governor Dr John Erus said that the new cover addressed reported challenges from past insurance providers, and advised county staff to take advantage of wellness services provided by the cover.

Jubilee CEO Njeri Jomo assured the county of the company’s commitment to offering better services. She cautioned staff against misusing the insurance card to avoid cases of fraud involving the cover.

County Executive for Public Service James Wangiros asked staff and those covered to provide feedback on facilities in writing to help in the evaluation of services offered.

CECM for Health Anthony Apalia asked staff to seek services from LCRH to help reinvest the resources in infrastructural development and additional personnel.

The launch was attended by county staff led by Deputy County Secretary Mr. Joseph Nyang’a; and included County Executives David Erukudi (Agriculture), Elizabeth Loote (Trade) and Patrick Losike (Infrastructure), as well as a host of Chief Officers and other senior officers.
