KNA by Patience Wangari

A middle-aged man denied charges of stealing and selling his father’s cow before a Murang’a court.

James Chege appeared before Murang’a Chief Magistrate Mr. Peter Ndwiga charged that on April 4 this year in Kambirwa village, Murang’a County, he stole a cow from his father Mr. Kamau Gachuri, and sold it without his consent.

Testifying before court, the complainant said that he sent his son to feed the cow and the son never came back home.

The following day, he went to look for him and after a long unfruitful search, he proceeded to report the matter to Kambirwa police station.

The police immediately began their search and arrested the accused at Makutano market having sold the cow and he was drunk. He was taken to Kambirwa police station where he was detained and charged with theft.

In consideration of the facts laid before the court and the denial by the accused, the Magistrate set the ruling date on June 29.
