Elderly man in court over drug charges

A man was Thursday arraigned before a Kenol court in Murang’a County charged with operating a drugs business illegally.

Peter Kamau, 57, had been arrested at his home in Ithanga- Kakuzi, Sub County on June 27 by the police following a tip off from members of the public.

During the arrest, police recovered 24 rolls and 28 sachets of bhang worth Sh3,200 wrapped in a polythene bag after searching his house.

Kamau denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Sheila M. Nyaga who released him on a Sh100, 000 cash bail or Sh200, 000 bond pending the hearing of the case.

The case will be mentioned on August 15, 2023.
