A middle aged man accused of breaking into a school office, making away with property valued at Sh11,500 has appeared before a Kabarnet court over the offence.

Erick Yatich was charged that on diverse dates in the month April 2022 at an unknown time, jointly with others not before the court, they broke and entered into Kasisit primary school old office, Baringo North, with intent to steal from therein.

Yatich, who was arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Purity Kosgei Wednesday is alleged to have stolen one solar panel (phoesum make UPE020M401PSP) valued at Sh10, 000, two pieces of maroon gutters valued at Sh1,000 and a wooden door valued at Sh500, property of Kasisit Primary School.

The accused was also charged with handling stolen goods C/Section 322 (1) as read with Section 322 (2) of the penal code.

When the charges were read to the accused he admitted committing the offence labelled against him.

“Your honour, I agree that I broke into the school and stole their property,” Yatich said.

The prosecution counsel prayed for facts to be read on Monday since they were not ready.

Kosgei in her ruling ordered the accused to be remanded in custody till October 16, when the court will be ready to proceed with sentencing.
